Halford was preceded in death in by his parents, William Milow Boggs and Ruth Hanes Boggs; wife, Doris Poindexter Boggs and a daughter, Wendy Marie Boggs. He enjoyed gardening and watching NASCAR. Halford owned and operated Boggs Body Shop in Mamers for over 40 years. He took pride in his work and loved helping friends in the Mamers community. Halford is survived by his son, Michael Boggs and wife Michelle of Lillington; 4 grandchildren, Spencer Berube, Tyler Boggs, Josh Boggs and Nick Boggs; sister, Geneva Griffin of Mamers; 2 brothers, Johnnie Boggs and wife Diane of Mamers, Jimmie Boggs and wife Jean of Mamers. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home of Lillington, NC. A funeral service was conducted at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Wife of Dwight Brown. Carol Ann Brown, age 73, of Lillington passed peacefully surrounded by family. She was born as Carol Ann Ray on February 13, 1945 in St. Neots, England to Thomas and Doreen Benham Ray. She had three sons with Charles Byrd; Jimmy, Chuck and Johnny. She married her loving husband Dwight Brown on December 20, 1983 in Harnett County. She retired from Farmers Gas, after working many years as a loyal employee. Carol had a passion for gardening, cooking, and old Westerns. You could often find her sitting on her front porch admiring the wildlife or piddling away in her garden. She showed dedication and admiration for all things that she did. She was known for her fervent love for her family, and her compassion and kindness towards everyone she met. She always brought her can-do attitude, and she didn't face a challenge she wasn't able to overcome. She will be genuinely missed by all those lives she touched. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Thomas, her mother Doreen, 2 brothers, Johnny and Tommy Ray. She is survived by her husband Dwight Brown, her three sons, Jimmy Byrd (Gwen), Chuck Byrd (Gina) and Johnny Byrd (Lori), her grandchildren, Heather (Carlton), Hunter, Aaron, Kayla (Caleb), Levi, Madison, Maggie, Adam, Ryan, Grayson, Josh and Jake. She also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home of Lillington, NC. A graveside service was held at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Husband of Ida Kelly Brown. Mr. Ross Brown, age 76, of Mamers, NC, passed away at Central Harnett Hospital. Ross was born in Harnett County to the late Oris and Algie Spence Brown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Doralene Knight, Gaynelle Hudson, Trilby Batchelor, and Katrina Tankersley. Ross is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ida Kelly Brown; daughter, Lorri Westover of Mamers, NC; sons, Chris Brown and wife Elizabeth of Cameron, NC, and Ryan Brown of Mamers, NC, and fianc‚ Misty Bjers of Lexington, NC; sister, Barbara Koepp of Broadway, NC; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ross was a lifelong resident of the Mamers area and member of Antioch Baptist Church. He attended Boone Trail High School and retired from Wilkinson Cadillac & Olds in Sanford, NC. Ross was known for basketball playing, having good gardens and sharing his produce with his neighbors. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home of Lillington, NC. A service was held at Antioch Baptist Church in Mamers. NC.

Wife of William Edgerton Byrd. Sadie Patterson Byrd, age 87 of Sanford, NC, passed away at her home. She was born in Harnett County to the late James Adam Patterson and Virginia Bell Patterson. She grew up in Harnett County where she attended Boone Trail High School and graduated in 1949. She then enrolled at East Carolina Teachers College, where she graduated in 1953 with a B.S. Degree in Physical Education. She taught in the Harnett County School System as a Physical Education Teacher. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was centered around her church, family and grandchildren. Sadie was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church in Sanford, NC. There she served in several different positions. She was honored with a plaque for her 45 years of service in the Adult Choir. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Eddie Lynn Byrd, her parents James Adam Patterson and Virginia Carolyn Bell Patterson; sisters Emma Byrd, Ann Collins; and brother John B. Patterson. Surviving is her husband, of 63 years, William "Ed" Edgerton Byrd; daughter Cindy Howard and husband Franz of Whispering Pines, NC; son Jeff Byrd and wife Tammy of Broadway; grandchildren Brinson Byrd and wife Kaitlyn of Raleigh, Amelia Byrd of Raleigh, Dillon Byrd of Raleigh, Caitlin Howard of Greensboro, NC, Adam Howard of Fairbanks, Alaska and a step-granddaughter Anna Moore; sisters Carolyn Haire and Marie Hinesly of Spring Lake, NC; brother Larry Patterson and wife Shirley of Lillington and several nieces and nephews. She has an extended family that she treated and considered like real family; Quy Vo, Kim Vo and Cindy Vo all of Sanford; Erica Vo of Raleigh, Ann Lee and husband Brandon and son Jayden and daughter Aubrey Lee of Sanford. Arrangements were handled by Bridges Cameron Funeral Home of Sanford, NC. Services were held at Jonesboro Baptist Church in Sanford, NC with burial in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Mamers, NC in Harnett County.
