        24. Clayborn Wenford McCauley, age 80, of Fuquay Varina, NC, formerly of Mamers NC, died at the William M. Dunlap Transitions LifeCare Center in Raleigh. He was born in Harnett County son of the late Ernest Clayton McCauley and Nettie Elizabeth (Lizzie) McNeill McCauley. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jim McCauley, Bob McCauley, Don McCauley and Fred McCauley. Clayborn was a graduate of Boone Trail High School Class of 1959 where he was voted Best Sport along with a fellow classmate. He was a diehard UNC Tarheel Fan, and to him there was no other team to pull for. Clayborn worked at and retired from Sanford Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Sanford, NC. After retirement he thoroughly enjoyed working in his yard and keeping his lawn freshly mowed in the spring and summer and free of leaves in the fall. Surviving are his sons Terry and wife Alesha of Fuquay Varina, NC and Clay and Teresa (Terry) of Wallace, NC. He is also survived by grandchildren Blake McCauley of Fuquay Varina, NC, Dana McCauley of Austin, Texas, Brittany McCauley Douglas (Scott), Tristan McCauley (Sarah), Gabriel McCauley, step-grandchildren Justin Jeffries (Jessie) and Jessie Jeffries Perry (Brooks) all of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren all of Wilmington, NC. Clayborn is survived by brothers Troy McCauley (Janice) of Belmont, NC, Dougald McCauley (Nadine) of Lillington, NC, Betty Jean (Shirley) McCauley Williams of Sanford NC, Linda McCauley Cummings of Sanford, NC, sisters-in law, Marlene McCauley of Cary, NC and many nieces and nephews. Clayborn is also survived by three very special cousins whom he enjoyed visiting and spending time with, Wendell (Pee Wee) McNeill, Lemar McNeill and Roy McNeill all of Broadway, NC. Arrangements were handled by the Smith Funeral Home in Broadway, NC. Graveside services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Broadway in Harnett County.

        28. Wife of James Daniel McLeod. Melanie Upchurch McLeod, 58 of Broadway entered her heavenly home Saturday May 16, 2020. Melanie was preceded in death by her husband, James McLeod and sister, Donna Upchurch Patterson. Melanie greeted everyone with a smile and was always ready to give a hug. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. Melanie's love knew no boundaries. Melanie is survived by her son, Eddie McLeod of Broadway; grandsons, Lathan and Brantley; parents, Charles and Maxine Upchurch of Broadway; sisters, Karen Thomas and husband Randy of Lillington, Charlene Harrington and husband Randy of Broadway, Paula Arnold of Southport, Jennifer Blalock and husband Larry Joe of Broadway, with several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were handled by O'Quinn Peebles Phillips Funeral Home of Lillington, NC. A funeral service was conducted at Holly Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Father, Wendell Keith McNeill of Broadway, brothers Colton and Grant Buchanan of Broadway, Maternal grandparents, Donnie and Vicky Patterson of Broadway, Paternal grandparents Wendell and Sue McNeill of Broadway and step-grandparents Waylon Blue and Jenell Buchanan. Mary was born in Harnett County on January 14, 1932 to the late Sion Harrington Mimms and Pearl Sloan Mimms. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, James, Billy and Dan Mimms and by one sister, Ruth Smith. Mary was a longtime member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa M. Cook of Broadway; two sisters, Fannie M. Stewart of Wilmington and Martha M. Maddox and her husband, Albert of Sanford; three grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Brad Cook and wife, Mary, Tiffany Cook and Brittany Terry and husband, Brad. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren. Funeral by Bridges Cameron of Sanford, with burial at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Broadway, NC.
