Husband of Delores Floyd. James "Jim" Stewart Floyd, 82, of Dunn, passed away at his home under the care of Transitions Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was born in Chadbourn, NC, to the late Tiffany Leo and Katie Bass Floyd. Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Harris and Virginia Atchison. Mr. Floyd worked as an electrician most of his adult life, retiring in 2010 as Superintendent of Field Operations for Barnes & Powell Electric based in Elm City, NC, after more than 30 years of service. He was a Master Electrician in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. Jim was a member of Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. Jim was instrumental in his church building program, and was named their 2014 Man of the Year. Jim was a lifelong, avid boater, enjoying water skiing, fishing, and just being on the water - whether it be a lake, river, or ocean. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Delores Floyd; daughters, Kathleen Stone (Anthony) of Douglasville, GA, Brenda Blackman (Kelvin) of Dunn, NC, Denise Galloway (Charles) of FuquayVarina, NC, Natalie Thomas (Ian) of Louisburg, NC; son Bill Meehan (Angel) of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Christy Dorman, Emily Daughtridge, Ashley Smith, Jimmy Blackman, Kelcie Solomon, Curry Stone, Kelly Hieronymus, Stephen Hieronymus, Zander Bonkowski; nine greatgrandchildren; and sisters, Shelby Likens and Pat Maryscuk. Arrangements were handled by Skinner and Smith Funeral Home of Dunn, NC. Services were held at Benson Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial at Devotional Gardens in Dunn, NC.
