Location - on Cannady Mill Rd. about 8/10ths mile from Eaton Rd.

Directions: Drive south on Hwy 96 and turn left on Eaton Rd. Drive 1.6 mi.; turn right on Cannady Mill Rd., drive 0.8 mile. The cemetery is located on the left. It is identifiable and well maintained.

The land the cemetery is on was originally owned by John B. Tunstall (b. 24 Jul 1792 - d. 16 Oct. 1862). He is the one who bought the land and turned it into a farm (some say a plantation). His grave is the second oldest in the cemetery. The oldest is Abraham Spencer who committed suicide in 1849, making him the first person to be buried there. Mr. Spencer was related through marriage to John B. Tunstall, thus the reason for his burial on the land. Other early graves are also John B. Tunstall's immediate family members. Later on, the daughter of John B. Tunstall, Margaret Tunstall, married a Sears and from that point, the cemetery was called the Sears Cemetery.
